Day 3: REST

November7

Day 3 was… indulgent! OH NO! I ended up watching a movie, ordering the “Oscar Bundle at NY Fries” which included the following:

  • spaghetti meatballs
  • chicken poppers
  • fries w/ pesto dip
  • ice tea

Then I also bought myself 130grams of chocolates from Candy Corner. Uh-oh…

Day 2: Getting back on track

November5

I had set today as the day I return to ULTRA. I was quite anxious for many reasons…

ONE… It’s been a while since I’ve trained at ULTRA.

I think it’s been months if not a quarter since I last set foot on ULTRA. It’s really been that long. It felt like my first time when I set foot inside the track. I scanned the area for people I might recognize. I was looking for the usual coaches who were there or those that used to Coach me like Rio, John and Roel.

TWO… I felt out of place.

Ultra is know for people who do speed work and not for those who jog or walk around the track. It’s known to be the home of so many athletes… and I was not one of them. As I scanned the track oval, there were a lot of people who looked and ran like runners, not your recreational runners who take their sweet time as they stroll the entire  5k route. Inside were runners who were real serious about their training, either doing their tempo run, interval or fartleks.

THREE… I was huge.

I felt embarrassed about how big I had gotten. I was hoping not to see anyone I knew. Perhaps in their mind, “Si Passion Runner ba ‘yo?! Bakit parang hindi niya kamukha yung facebook profile niya? (Is that Passion Runner? How come he looks nothing like his facebook profile pic?)

Or something like, “Geez! This guy ain’t a runner, what is he doing here?”

DAY 1: The first weigh in for the Biggest Loser – Takbo.ph Edition

November4

I got to finally weigh in for the “Biggest Loser (Takbo.ph Edition)” tonight outside ROX at Bonifacio High Street.

weight

And the verdict is… heavier than what I expected but, I guess the scale doesn’t lie. We even got the figure twice just to be sure. In the picture is the Rico’s official BLC weighing scale. He’ll be bringing it wherever he goes and will bring it to BHS at nights.

We also took some before pics…

One full body and one close up.

I also got to meet the other contestants like Marga, Rafa and… (oh no, I’m so sorry. I’m sooo bad with names)… and by the looks of things, my biggest competitors are Enrico Villanueva (not the basketball player, hehe) aka Sheerwill and Marga, who’s deadset on winning the prize money. Looks like I have tough competition.

Thanks to Rico for organizing this one! :)

PS. We’re looking for sponsors to provide more prizes. So far, there is a gift certificate for CHI Spa at Shangri-La and there are rumors that Mizuno and Nike might give us something.

The Biggest Loser

November2

tblI just finished watching Season 7 of “The Biggest Loser”. It has been one of my favorite tv-shows. It’s amazing how they can lose over 150lbs and going from over 410lbs to less than 200.  This Season was supposedly the “biggest” in almost every aspect. As Jillian Michaels (one of the trainers) put it,

We have the oldest at 63, the youngest at 18, the heaviest, the sickest, the heaviest woman, the most number of contestants and the longest season. It was also different joining them on their experience from being huge to being extremely active.

Here are some before and after pictures:

This is Jerry. He’s the oldest at age 63. He won the at home prize of $100,000 for losing over 54% of his starting body weight. Amazing!

This is the brown team of Ron and Mike, father and son duo. They are the first team to have ever made it to the finale.

This is the green team of Tara and Laura, former models. I don’t know how you can get from being a model to… that. But look at what they’ve accomplished. Tara is the only Biggest Loser contestant who never fell below the yellow line AND has won 12 challenges. The most anyone has ever won on the biggest loser.
