Takbong Mas May Yabang!
Having been able to gather almost 400 Pinoys in the past year, Takbong May Yabang successfully reached its goal of promoting national pride not only to its participants but to the Filipino public in general. It was a big hit among its attendees, who, regardless of age, took the challenge not only of crossing the finish line but also of shouting out how proud they are of being Filipinos.
.
This year, the University of the Philippines Association of Business Administration Majors (UP ABAM) Yabang Pinoy Team and PLDT Touch Card brings the event back with a twist, taking it to a whole new level from Takbong May Yabang to Takbong Mas May Yabang. We Pinoys welcomed the year with the crucial trials that it brought from the automation of the elections to the selection of a new set of government officials and so on. These events have undeniably shown how much we as a people, especially the youth, are determined to fight for the CHANGE that the country needs. This then puts our nation to a critical stage of maturity. Taking these into consideration, the UP ABAM Yabang Pinoy Team revamps Takbong May Yabang with much more energy and relevance allowing each Pinoy runner to both take their national pride to the next level and cross the finish line running for what they believe in – yan ang tunay na Pinoy! Each participant will be empowered to finish the race with his/her own cause—reconfirming one’s commitment to our mother land.
.
Takbong Mas May Yabang is a gathering of shouting proud Pinoys. With an estimated attendance of at least 400, the event will commence at five o’ clock in the morning on July 25, 2010 at the Academic Oval situated at the University of the Philippines campus grounds – a jogging hotspot and a perfect haven to celebrate Pinoy Pride and Culture. It is the main objective of the event that participating Pinoys take greater pride and dignity in their nationality and more importantly be able to voice out and fight for their own causes. Supported by a state-of-the-art timing device from Runrio, Takbong Mas May Yabang aims to once again ignite the belief of the Filipinos—either by blood or by heart—in being a Filipino and in fellow Filipinos, and to reaffirm one’s commitment to our beloved Philippines.

ABOUT
There is not enough public libraries to serve millions of students, currently there are 688 public libraries of all types and there should be more. The lack of facilities is even compounded by the fact that a significant number of these libraries are under-funded, understaffed, poorly equipped, or in bad physical condition forcing it to stop functioning.
.
There should be a total of 1,851 libraries in all, one for each of the country’s 220 congressional districts, 136 cities, and 1,495 municipalities. To date, the country has 1,163 libraries less than required. This affects 40% of the population or nearly 40 million Filipinos as it unacceptably deprives our children of a resource that could spell a difference for their future.
.
Realizing the need for children to be aptly exposed to reading materials not readily available for them, the Run To Read Fun Run was designed to raise funds to build and restore libraries for less fortunate communities in various parts of the Philippines. The run will be composed of 4 major distance events; 3KM, 5KM, 10KM, 15KM and a 500-meter dash for kids and their moms or dads
