Rain or shine
Interesting that two runners told me the same thing today. Can you guess who said who?
FIRST RUNNERS: I texted, “Malakas din ba ulan diyan? Til what time kayo ULTRA xxxxx? Or mag-afternoon session na lang ako?”
and the response was, “Rain or shine andito kami.”
2ND RUNNERS: The other one runner was, “Good morning xxxx. Were you able to train at ULTRA today? It was raining real hard this morning. Are we still pushing thru with our meeting at 9am?”
Their response was, “We are still soldiers.. rain or shine, we fight.. we are waiting for you”
Can anyone guess who these people I was texting with?
The first set of runners were Coach Rio de la Cruz and Coach John Lozada. I was asking them if they had gone to training today… Well, useless of me to ask since they never miss training. Hehe.
The second set of runners were none other than Bald Runner and Capt. Espejo. They had set a meeting with me earlier today at 9am. I had already predicted that I might not wake up so to play it safe, I had scheduled the meeting for 9am. If I do end up waking up for training, I’d meet with them for a breakfast meeting after my run. If I didn’t wake up, which is what happened, I’d go straight from my house and still be in time to meet with them.
RUNNERS DISCIPLINE
What I found interesting was that their response was the same… “rain or shine” they still run (or “fight”). I guess if I hadn’t come back from a bad dose of colds, I would’ve ran earlier this morning and probably did my stair workout. But I had to control my urges and prevent myself from doing so since I didn’t want to have a relapse.
I ended up running late this evening, around 8:30pm. I did 10k easy run with a time of 57:09.92. This was of course preceed by 2km warmup and stretching, and followed by some core exercises.
I realize that when I run, I wake up earlier. Maybe since all my energy is already used up, its easier for me to sleep.
I need to get back to being a morning person… I feel that I have a lot more time when I wake up at 4:30 am compared to 10am. Hehe… when I wake up at 10am, half of my morning is gone. I find myself eating breakfast, shortly followed by lunch.
