Bitten by the lazy bug
I got bitten by the lazy bug! Since this Sunday, I haven’t feeling all that excited about running, as compared to last week wherein even if it were 10:30 in the evening, I’d still do my 10k easy run. It started with the FEATI Run wherein I decided to “rest” and go back to sleep, despite having paid the registration fee already.
Next it was Monday already and I got up later than usual, getting to ULTRA at 7:30am instead of my usual 6:30. Then yesterday, I felt either soo tired or lazy and like a bum that I did not do my 10k easy run, thus resulting in my first penalty of P500.
Something has really gotten to me that I don’t feel as energetic as I was last week or weeks prior. I’ve been bitten by the lazy bug… Today, I got out of bed at around 6:45. Yes… 6:45, when by this time, I should already be in ULTRA. Coach gave me a call and told me to do 3(4×200m) since he’d be leaving early for a meeting. I got to ULTRA at around 8am already… the sun was already out shining brightly and making it more difficult to run.
I did my 2k warm-up, some drills then followed by my assigned workout… I did pretty well. Look at the table below and compare it with my workout the previous week. I had gotten faster by 5 seconds or so…

I had seemingly done better BUT, I had somewhat cheated. If you go back to the first table and hilight the blank column which reads “RECOVERY”, it will reveal the rest period after each 200m. It’s too long. In the second table, my rest period was strictly at 1:30 in between laps and around 5-7 mins in between sets. The first table has recovery periods of about 2-3minutes between laps and 7-10minutes in between sets. Instead of doing steady jogs, I decided to walk to recover.
**Coach Rio, I know you’re reading this… was what I did wrong? Or is it acceptable considering that I did end up running faster… Hehe…**
Anyway, it was also just toooooo HOT! I’m not going to run in ULTRA that late again. I was actually the last person out of the track oval.
Hopefully, I get rid of this lazy bug. It ain’t any good for me.

Oo nga. Ang init uli ngayon. Summer na naman!!!
There’s the extra effort to wake up earlier than usual to avoid the heat. But I won’t give myself a cash penalty. Baka malugi ako.

hi eric,
don’t be too hard on yourself. bottom line, you still went to ULTRA and did the workout for the day. Katatapos lang mid-terms mo di ba? Surely, it must have contributed to your feeling lethargic lately. But tomorrow’s another day

Jinoe, sobrang init lately noh? Pero weird kasi kahapon naman sobrang lakas ng ulan. Gusto ko sana yong makulimlim lang yong panahon. Hehe
Levy, well maybe you’re right…last week’s stress probably took a toll on me… but on the brighter side, I was able to run despite last week. Bumabawi lang siguro ako ngayon sa pagod… I’m doing a 10k easy run tomorrow… and Friday, something light to prepare for Men’s Health
