ULTRA training

ultra03.jpg ULTRA, the name of this place is very apt. ULTRA is defined as going beyond what is usual or ordinary; excessive; extreme. The people who train here definitely push themselves to go beyond their limits, breaking personal records, and preparing themselves for future competitions or just to stay fit and healthy.

ultra02.jpg There is also another quote posted along the track oval which says, “Mens Sana In Corpore Sano”, translated means, A healthy Mind in A Healthy Body. This reminds everyone that staying fit is not only good for the body but for the mind as well. I can attest to this as running has become my outlet from all the stress that accumulates from studying and doing other things. It gives me peace of mind and actually energizes me.

After yesterday’s 10k easy run, it was ULTRA training for me in every sense of the phrase. Did my usual 2k warmup, followed by drills, then after missing it for over a month, I was back to the stairs. 10 reps for the bleachers, then 7 reps for the regular steps. It was definitely exhausting! This was followed by 4×100m sprints. Before I started the sprints, my legs were twitching from fatigue that’s what I couldn’t give 100% for the sprints.

My time for the 4×100m were:
1 - 15.90
2 - 15.47
3 - 17.05
4 - 16.03

  1. Eric, one of the many things that is planned while in the Philippines is one ULTRA day. Hope that I can do it with you, Coach Rio and the students if I it’s okay with you guys.

Once the marathon (Sunday) is over, one day a week of interval training will start for me. Right now, my speed workouts have been either fartlek, tempo runs or the races themselves.

Hope everything’s well with you. Are you planning on running Sunday (10K)?

  2. Great run! Have a nice day!

Goodluck on the marathon :) As for me, hard training… I still haven’t been penalized for not running/training. Hopefully, I’ll get through this week without missing a day of training. Did 13k today :D

Hi Bro J! No problem. I added you to my blogroll already :) Keeping your own blogsite is a good motivator and you get to share your insights with other people :D Keep it up!

  4. Thanks a lot PR! It really helps a lot if you hear words of encouragements from people like you, who are willing to extend a helping hand. Keep on running. God bless!
