Getting out of my comfort zone.

Yeah… That’s right. I’m about to get out of my comfort zone. I’m doing more than 10k tomorrow… 18km to be exact. This will be my longest run, yet. To hype myself up, I watched a special documentary of the 2007 Hawaii Ironman. Now, I don’t just want to run, I want to bike and swim as well. Haha!

The running part is already covered. So is the biking. It’s the swimming that I think I need to work on. I mean dog paddling aka langoy aso is cute when you’re a kid, but its pathetic if you’re a grown adult! Hehe :D Just watching the video makes me wonder whether I can… Well, I know I can force myself to do it but I think I’ll put that on my to do list.

Thinking of eventually doing a full Ironman, I have to cut my goals into small chunks. Perhaps first, I ought to do a half-marathon, then a full one. After that, I ought to try biking really far distances. Lastly, learn how to swim…

Going back, I’m pretty excited about tomorrow. I’ve got 6 hours before my very first long run. Well, to some, this is just a typical run… but for me… hehe… I don’t know yet how I’ll fare. I still have no strategy as of now since this is my first.

Bahala na… I’ll post stuff tomorrow :D

  1. hey son. i hope you did well today.i just did the manila half earlier.i would say that the organizers led by kenneth montegrande did a VERY excellent job doing the race.there was ample water supply along the route, race marshals who were in scooters and standing in practically ALL intersections(espana-forbes-taft-quirino,name it) along the route to let runners go through without delay.it was a nice route with the dreaded 4-bridge climbs-padre zamora-pandacan-nagtahan-ramon magsaysay flyover(the highest!)-looming large along the way and separated barely a kilometer apart.but boy was the race very well organized.up to the finish line-1 chute for each distance-3k-5k-10k-21k.this is how races should be done and i would say this is the best organized run this year.i would definitely run a 2nd edition if the same city hall dudes plan another.to mayor lim and all organizers-mabuhay kayo and thank you for making my sunday! i wish you joined us my son.too bad i couldn’t be in two places at 1 time.i registered for tik-tak-bo and if not for that bum frank,i would have run at u.p. today.see you a la salle next sunday compajero.

  2. Hahaha!

Pinanindigan ang pseudonym… The funny thing every time I say the word father, the phrase is usually followed in my head by.. .”NO Father… It’s coatsaver” Haha! Seriously :P
Did so-so today… wasn’t my best run. Better for me not to post about my time. Haha…

I hear that the Manila Half was a very well organized race… Well, if you’re a City that is organizing a race and you have the entire city police behind you, shouldn’t have any problems there with marshaling… Hehe!
