1-Mile Test

A few days before heading to Subic, the training I had with Coach Rio was designed to test my fitness level. Most runners refer to it as the 1-mile test. There is a chart that shows how good or poor your performance is. I’ve yet to locate that article on Runner’s World that has it.

Basically, what Coach asked me to do was run 4 rounds of the track oval (4×400m) which is the equivalent of one mile. After each mile, I’d do one slow jog to recover then do another mile. I did a total of 4 miles. Here are my times:

Mile 1 - 00:08:08.27
Mile 2 - 00:08:51.20
Mile 3 - 00:09:16.38
Mile 4 - 00:08:53.90
